In December , Fariq Abdul Hamid faced allegations from a South African woman named Jonti Roos for breaking Malaysian Airline rule.

According to her, Fariq and one of his colleagues invited her, along with a friend, in the cockpit to join them for the one-hour flight from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur. While talking about this in an interview, Jonti Roos said,
